Change your current visa to a Row 2 work visa

You can apply for a change (‘switch’) from another visa (your current visa) to a Grade 2 (General) visa.

You must apply for this visa before your current visa expires.

Eligibility

You must apply for this visa before your current visa expires.

  • Row 2 visa (athlete).
  • Row 2 visa (religious).
  • Row 2 visa (intra-corporate transfer) under the immigration rules before April 6, 2010, apply for change.
  • To change a sponsor.
  • Row 4 Visa – If you meet the eligibility requirements or have completed at least 12 months of your PhD.

You can also switch to a Grade 2 (General) visa if you:

  • You are a dependent partner (spouse or spouse who needs to take care of another person) with a Level 4 visa.
  • You represent a business abroad.

If you do not fall into any of these categories, you must leave the UK and apply for a Tier 2 (General) visa from abroad.

Eligibility requirements for row 4 visa

To receive one of the following documents, you must be sponsored by a person with a Tier 4 license:

  • British bachelor’s degree.
  • British Master’s Degree.
  • Graduate Certificate.
  • Professional education diploma.

PhD students

You must have completed at least 12 months of your education during your recent stay in the UK. This could be through a valid sponsor of a Tier 4 visa or another visa that allows you to study.

How long can you stay?

You can stay in the UK for up to 5 years after changing your visa to a 2nd class (general) visa.

How to change your visa

Read Row 2 Guidelines before applying.

You must apply online (https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/product/tier2-general) as an individual or family group.

Biometric information

Each applicant must also pay 20 19.20 to obtain biometric information (fingerprint and photo). After applying for a visa, he is told how to do it.

If your visa extension application is successful, you will receive a biometric residence permit.

How long does it take to apply for a visa change?

Decisions are made according to the type of service as follows:

  • If you use standard services, within 8 weeks from the date of your request.
  • If you use priority services, within 10 working days from the date of your request.
  • Within one working day if you use extra priority services.

If your application is complex, it takes longer, for example:

  • If your supporting documents need to be verified.
  • If you need to attend the interview.
  • Because of your personal circumstances (for example, if you have a criminal conviction).

As long as your visa change application is before the expiration date of your last visa, you can stay in the UK after applying for a visa change until you receive the result.
