Qualification conditions

To qualify for a standard tourist visa, you must always indicate that:

  • You will leave the UK at the end of your visit.
  • You will be able to support yourself and your relatives during your trip.
  • You will be able to pay for your return or next trip and other expenses related to your visit.
  • You have the ability to do any business or other things you want to do in the UK under the tourist law.

If you are applying for a standard long-term (long-term) visa

You must prove that:

  • You can come to the UK for a tourist visit, for example for a holiday, to visit family or to attend a meeting.
  • You plan to leave the UK at the end of each visit.
  • If you do not leave the UK on a long-term visa after each visit, you will be denied a long-stay visa and no refund will be given to you.

If you have applied for a visa as an academic

If you have applied for a visa as a student, you can stay in the UK for one year. You must prove that you are an expert in your field of work and that you are visiting the UK on a study opportunity from your home institution for the following reasons:

  • To participate in a formal exchange with an English counterpart.
  • To do your research.
  • To participate in research, teaching or other personal clinical activity. As long as it does not involve filling a permanent training post.

If you are applying for a visa for personal treatment

You must prove that:

  • Do you have a medical condition that requires private counseling or treatment in the UK?
  • You have paid for counseling or treatment arrangements.
  • You have enough savings to pay for your treatment and you have enough ability to pay for yourself without using public funds and paying for a return or other trip.
  • You will leave the UK after completing your treatment or when your visa expires.
  • If you suffer from an infectious disease such as leprosy, do not pose a risk to public health.

If you are applying for a visa as a member donor

You can only visit the UK to donate to the following people:

  • A family member who is genetically related (for example, your sibling).
  • Someone with whom you have a close personal relationship (for example, your spouse or friend).
  • You must prove that the person you are donating to is legally allowed to be in the UK.
