UK 4th Grade General Student Visa
UK general student visas are issued to international students who are at least 16 years old and wish to register to study in the UK. This is part of the UK’s immigration rating system.

With a public study visa in the UK, you can enjoy the following benefits:
- Enroll in post-16 education in the UK.

- Get a volunteer job.
- Take your family members to the UK.
However, there are several things you can not do with a public student visa in the UK. Most importantly, you can not use any kind of public budget. In addition, you cannot attend a public school or work in a job that is not authorized by a second-class public visa holder.
Who needs a Grade 4 visa?
To be eligible to apply for a UK general student visa, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be from a non-EEA and non-Swiss country.
- Be older than 16 years old.
- Demonstrate good English language skills in the interview (as described below). The sponsor should not give the CAS to the candidate before making sure that he / she has the required knowledge in English:
- To study in English at NQF with the following level 6: English knowledge must be at least B1.
- To study English at NQF level 6 and above – English proficiency must be at least B2.
- In an institution mentioned as an authorized sponsor of 4th degree candidates, they have gained a place in this course.
How can we apply for a 4th grade general education?
You must apply for a UK Grade 4 student visa from your home country.
You must first submit your application online through the UK Government Official Website. There you will be asked about the main information, about yourself and your purpose of traveling to the UK.
Secondly, if this is your first time traveling to the UK, you will need to make an appointment at the nearest application center, UK embassy or consulate in your home country. There you have to send biometric information and a photo of yourself.

Grade 4 student visa requirements
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must meet the following conditions to be eligible to submit a Grade 4 visa application:
- Be older than 16 years;
- Earn a total of 40 points.
- At least 30 points to have a CAS of a sponsor degree 4;
- 10 points for stability
- Demonstrate good English language skills in the interview (as described below). The sponsor should not give the CAS to the candidate before making sure that he / she has the required knowledge in English:
- To study in English at NQF with the following level 6: English knowledge must be at least B1.
- To study English at NQF level 6 and above – English proficiency must be at least B2.

Qualifications required for a UK Grade 4 student visa
To apply for a Grade 4 student visa, you must provide the following documents:
- Valid passport.
- Admission confirmation for study (CAS) is described below.
- If you are from a country where TB is high, you should show TB test results.
- Criminal record certificate.
- Letters from parents or legal guardians, if you are under 18 years old.
- The financial budget for your entire stay in the UK is described below.
- Proof of English language skills.

UK general student visa fee
You must pay a certain amount to apply for a UK visa. The cost of a UK general student visa is Pound 348. If you plan to take family members with you, you will have to pay an extra Pound 348 each.
UK General Student Visa Validity
This visa is usually valid for the duration of the course. However, there are exceptions:
- If the study lasts for 1 year, the visa will be valid for another four months after graduation.
- If this is a postgraduate medical or dental course, the visa will be valid for another month after graduation.
- If the course lasts less than 6 months and is an introductory course, the visa will be valid for another month after the end of the course.
- If the course lasts less than 6 months and is not an introductory course, the visa will be valid for 7 days after the end of the course.
Extending the UK General Student Visa
You can apply for a visa extension if you want or need a longer stay in your UK visa. You can apply for a visa extension for any of the following periods:
- For the period of study
- Additional five months after graduation: For education that has lasted 1 year or more.
- Additional three months: For studies that have lasted for 6 months.
- Two extra months: For the introductory course which lasted less than 6 months.
- Two extra months: For postgraduate studies as a doctor or dentist.
- Two extra weeks: For a course that is not an introductory course.
Admission Approval for Education (CAS)
CAS is a virtual document or database file and has a unique reference number. This includes details about the candidate, the course and other information. It is the responsibility of the sponsor to provide the candidate with the CAS reference number.
The main components of CAS are:
- This document contains passport information and other personal information about the candidate.
- It is valid for six months from the date of issue.
- Applying for a visa with CAS must be no more than 3 months before the start of your studies.
- The sponsor should not cancel it after it has been issued.
- You can only use it to apply for a visa.
- The CAS issuing authority must be an educational institution licensed as a Grade 4 sponsor.
- Level B2: Higher than CEFR in English subjects.
Proof of budget for studying in the UK
When applying for a Grade 4 General Student Visa, you must provide the following documents as proof of financial support:
Tuition:
- Tuition fees in the first year: For education shorter than 1 year.
- Tuition fee for the current academic year and the following year: If you request a visa extension from within the UK.
- Total Grade 4 sponsor costs: To study abroad in the UK for less than 1 year.
- All Grade 4 Sponsor Fees: If you request a visa extension from within the UK to continue your studies part-time.
- Tuition fees for the following year: If you apply for a visa extension from within the UK to continue your studies at the beginning of next year. If you have a scholarship or other form of support, you will no longer need to pay to support your sponsor. Any money paid to the sponsor before applying for a visa can be deducted from the total amount required if such payment is proven.
Cost of living and accommodation:
- 65 1,265 (if studying in London) or 15 1,015 (if studying outside London) per month if studying for a maximum of 2 months: If you are applying for a room in postgraduate medical education or dental program or as a student association study opportunity manager.
- 5 2,530 (if studying in London) or 30 2,030 (if studying outside London) for two months: At the request of the room under the supervision of DES.
- 65 1,265 (if studying in London) or 15 1,015 (if studying outside London) per month if the study lasts a maximum of 9 months: If you are applying for a degree program that lasts less than 1 year.
Demonstrate English language skills in the interview
The sponsor should not give the CAS to the candidate before making sure that he / she has the required knowledge in English:
- To study in English at NQF with the following level 6: English knowledge must be at least B1.
- To study English at NQF level 6 and above – English proficiency must be at least B2.
- A talented student: He is exempt from proving his knowledge of English.
The sponsor will sometimes have to assess the candidate’s English language proficiency using the Certified English Test (SELT) offered by an English language test provider.
If the candidate passes the SELT, the sponsor will place the unique SELT reference number in the candidate CAS. The candidate uses the same number in his / her visa application to confirm that he / she has passed this test.
Candidates may have to prove their English language proficiency in a visa interview in their home country or while in the UK (at the airport).
Requirements for approval of university technology plan approval
The Office of Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs is responsible for issuing the certificate. If you want to enter the following courses, you must provide it when applying for a visa:

Doctoral Extension Plan (DES)
Students who have a 4th degree general education, European Commission or Chamber of Commerce and intend to complete their studies while pursuing a doctorate at a UK postgraduate institution are eligible to apply for a visa extension to stay Most are in the UK to pursue a doctorate under the DES.
